How It Works
Working Principle
The counter flow closed cooling tower combines evaporative cooling and forced air convection in a sealed circuit to deliver efficient, contamination-free heat rejection.
Closed-Loop Circulation
Hot process fluid enters the internal coil tubes from the top and flows downward through the sealed heat exchange coil. The fluid never contacts the outside atmosphere, preventing contamination and scaling.
Spray Water Evaporation
A recirculating spray pump distributes water evenly over the external surface of the coil. As the spray water absorbs heat from the coil, a portion evaporates, creating a powerful cooling effect through latent heat transfer.
Counter Flow Air Movement
Axial fans draw ambient air upward through the coil in the opposite direction of the downward-flowing spray water. This counter flow arrangement maximizes the temperature differential and heat transfer efficiency.
Heat Rejection & Recirculation
Warm moist air is exhausted from the top. Unevaporated spray water is collected in the basin and recirculated. The cooled process fluid exits the coil at the target temperature and returns to the system.
Zero Contamination
Sealed coil design keeps process fluid completely isolated from ambient air, dust, and biological growth.
Higher Efficiency
Counter flow design achieves closer approach temperatures compared to cross flow, reducing energy consumption by up to 30%.
