Working Principle
An evaporative condenser rejects heat from a refrigeration or process system by combining the principles of heat transfer and evaporative cooling in a single compact unit -- eliminating the need for a separate condenser and cooling tower.
Hot Refrigerant Enters the Coil
High-pressure, high-temperature refrigerant gas from the compressor discharge enters the condensing coil located inside the unit.
Spray Water Contacts the Coil
Spray nozzles distribute water evenly over the coil surface. As water evaporates, it absorbs large amounts of latent heat from the coil, rapidly cooling the refrigerant inside.
Air Flow Enhances Evaporation
Axial fans draw or force ambient air through the unit, increasing the evaporation rate and carrying away heat-laden air to atmosphere.
Condensed Refrigerant Exits
Cooled and condensed liquid refrigerant exits the coil and returns to the expansion device, completing the refrigeration cycle efficiently.
